X Marks the Spot!

Back in 1997, His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew broke ground for the new Cathedral and lay the corner stone. You may recall, it was at the bottom of the steps leading to the parking lot, right next to an evergreen tree. Well, today, the cornerstone has been placed on the exact spot where the Patriarch broke ground. It is located in the current courtyard, just to the west of the north doors of the new Cathedral. It reads: His All Holiness Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople-New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch, laid the cornerstone of this Annunciation Cathedral Church to the glory of God during the Episcopacy of the Right Reverend Bishop Anthony of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of San Francisco and the pastorate of the Reverend Stephen H. Kyriacou, on the sixth of November, in the year of our Lord 1997. (Recall, in 1997, the Diocese had not yet been elevated to a Metropolis.)

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God.
