Our Festival: It’s all About People

Our Festival: It’s all About People

Friday, September 22, Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24 were memorable. There was so much to do. People kept coming and coming. They socialized, they ate, they danced, they contributed. They took chapel tours, and learned something of our Orthodox Christian Faith. They watched the dance groups perform, and learned something of our Greek cultural heritage. Yes, we made money: over $65,000 came in from the souvenir book ads, and, when all was said and done, we netted $100,000 towards the support of our various parish ministries. But, in the end, it wasn’t the souvlaki or the pastitsio or the gyro. It wasn’t the fact that we could pay the bank one or two months. Or the contractors. It was really all about community building. For, this is what we do here in the Mission, in the heart of the City. We reach out to everyone and share with them the love of God. For, as a parish and as the Church, we are a family, called “from among the Gentiles” to share the Good News of joy, peace, and salvation. Και του χρόνου!

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God.
