Annunciation Cathedral Honors Father Stephen Kyriacou with Courtyard Dedication and Palm Sunday Luncheon

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, we celebrated a momentous occasion, honoring the service and lasting legacy of Father Stephen H. Kyriacou with a special courtyard dedication and sold-out Palm Sunday Luncheon.

Father Stephen, who faithfully served as the Cathedral’s Proistamenos from 1987 until his retirement in 2022, was recognized for his decades of spiritual leadership, steadfast commitment, and deep devotion to the Annunciation community. Parishioners, friends, and dignitaries filled the Cathedral Chapel to standing room only for the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, His Grace Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea, Father Angelo Pappas, and Archdeacon Justin Bosl.

The overwhelming attendance reflected the profound impact Father Stephen has had on the community, as generations of parishioners gathered to honor the beloved spiritual father who helped shape the Cathedral’s life and ministry over nearly four decades.

The Chapel, Courtyard, and Church Hall were beautifully decorated for the occasion, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that reflected the deep love and respect the community holds for Father Stephen. Every space radiated with care and joy, setting the perfect tone for the day’s events.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a heartfelt dedication ceremony was held in the newly named Reverend Father Stephen H. Kyriacou Courtyard. The courtyard stands as a lasting tribute to Father Stephen’s tireless efforts to build both the physical and spiritual foundation of the Annunciation Cathedral, and to his vision for its future as a beacon of faith in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The celebration continued with a sold-out Palm Sunday Luncheon in the Church Hall. Attendees enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by dedicated volunteers, with proceeds supporting the Cathedral’s Building Fund as construction efforts move forward.

Throughout the day, the Cathedral community celebrated the enduring legacy of a priest whose pastoral care and love for his parishioners continue to inspire. The dedication of the Reverend Father Stephen H. Kyriacou Courtyard marks not only the recognition of a beloved spiritual leader, but also a recommitment to building upon the strong foundation he laid for generations to come.
