Aryiro was born and raised in Larnaca, Cyprus. She studied Computer Science at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2005 she moved to the U.S to further her education by earning her Masters in Computer Science with a focus on Cybersecurity from Carnegie Mellon University. She has held leadership positions in large corporations including Symantec, Broadcom and AWS focusing on defining Cybersecurity strategy for Fortune 500 companies. She is a mother to three boys; her oldest has been attending Greek school since 2023 and her husband has been taking adult Greek lessons with Ms. Loukia since 2022.. In her role as director of the Greek school she focuses on school administration and outreach, teacher recruitment and cultural event organization.

Loukia was born and raised in Greece, where she graduated with a degree in mathematics from the University of Ioannina. She then moved to the United States for graduate school and earned a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco. During her graduate studies, she began teaching at the Greek School of the Annunciation Cathedral in San Francisco, later assuming the role of director alongside her teaching duties. In 2001, she relocated to San Ramon to be closer to her full-time role as a Principal Technical Architect at AT&T and to focus on raising her daughter, Zoe. After her daughter left for college, she returned to the Greek School of the Annunciation, where she has been teaching since 2017. In addition to her classroom teaching, she has had the privilege of tutoring many children and adults over the years, and has also served as a Greek translator for "Fluent Language Solutions". By far, her greatest gratification has been watching her very first students, who are now adults, bring their own children to attend the Greek School at the Annunciation Cathedral.

Originally from Greece, Vasia moved from Athens to San Francisco in 2019. She is a social scientist with a Ph.D. in sociology and a certified teaching credential in pedagogy, currently working in public diplomacy at the European Union Office in San Francisco. Beyond her day job, she' s so excited to bring her background in education and love for Greek culture, language, and community to our school family!

Nefeli is originally from Athens, Greece. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology before moving to Germany to pursue a Master’s in Neuroscience. Her academic journey then brought her to New York City, where she spent over a decade completing her PhD and postdoctoral studies in Neurobiology and Ophthalmology. Shortly after her son was born, her family relocated to San Francisco. She now works at Genentech, where she focuses on developing new medicines for patients with ocular diseases. Outside of the lab, mentorship has been a deep passion of hers since her grad school days. Over the years, she’s had the privilege of guiding aspiring scientists ranging from high school students to PhD candidates. As part of the Bay Area Greek diaspora, she is eager to connect more deeply with our local community and contribute in meaningful ways.

Angeliki Tziouvara was born and raised in Greece and has studied and lived in Greece, France, and the United States. She is an attorney and holds a law degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an LL.M. from Aix-Marseille University. She works at the Consulate General of Greece in San Francisco, specializing in consular, legal, and citizenship matters. She enjoys sharing the Greek language and culture with her students and has been teaching at the Annunciation Greek School since 2022.

Anna Alexia Markouizos is third-year PhD student at the University of California, Berkeley specializing in Ottoman History focusing on Ottoman art, architecture, and textiles. As a fourth-generation American-born from her mother’s side, she was raised in a Greek-American household in New Hyde Park, New York, with her father being born and raised in Thessaloniki and her mother being from the island of Patmos. She predominantly spoke Greek at home and learned English when she was five years old. She attended Greek school at St. Demetrios in Astoria. After completing five years of Greek school on Saturday’s, she was privately tutored in Greek, coupled with frequent visits to Greece in the summer and for Easter, as it was her parents’ goal for her to not only speak Greek fluently but to also embrace her culture and history. She received my Γ1 Ελληνομάθεια certification in 2017 and my Γ2 Ελληνομάθεια certificate this past May! She graduated from New York University with a BA in Romance Languages (French and Italian) and Global Liberal Studies and a minor in Turkish. She received two master’s in the United Kingdom: MA in the Classical World and its Reception from King’s College, London and MSc in Late Antique, Islamic and Byzantine Studies from the University of Edinburgh.. I look forward to teaching Greek to Greek-Americans at Annunciation and exposing them to a beautifully intricate language and deep-rooted traditions as a fellow Greek-American myself!

Vasileia was born and raised in Palaio Faliro, Greece, with roots tracing back to the island of Paros, a connection to island life she holds close to her heart. She is fluent in Greek and English and also speaks French. A lifelong runner, she represented Greece on the national team at the Youth Olympic Games and the European Championships, and she holds a Greek national record in the 3000m. Her athletic career earned her two full-ride scholarships to compete in track and field, first at the University of Florida and then at the University of San Francisco, where she went on to complete her Master's degree in Urban and Public Affairs. Her graduate thesis examined the housing crisis in Athens, Greece, reflecting her deep ties to her home country even while building her life and career in the U.S. The oldest of seven children, Vasileia grew up immersed in church life and Greek traditions, and that upbringing remains central to who she is today. She has always loved working with children, having spent time coaching young athletes and working recess with kids, and she's excited to bring that same warmth and energy to the classroom. She looks forward to helping her students embrace the Greek language and culture just as she embraces her own roots.
